I can say that because I have been through three snowfalls, US Thanksgiving and Black Friday are upon us and my recent visit to the liquor store had a bunch of Christmas style libations ready for celebration!
Of course there was a good inventory of new bubbles and we will get to those. But first we will start off with the Tommasi Family giving us “2 Good Reasons to Enjoy the Holidays.”
Tommasi Graticcio & Pinot Grigio – The Essence of Venetian Wines – Two bottle gift box $37.95 – Italy
I am again pleasantly surprised by the refreshing Le Rose Pinot Grigio. Bright yellow in color, bold yet dry, with full flavours and hints of apple and pear. Graticcio Appassianato Graticcio is the name of the bamboo mats where the grapes are laid down to be dried. A part of the grapes is partially dried for one month prior to being pressed and aged for 6 months. Ruby red, smooth and medium bodied with hints of red fruit. A great pair of wines that whomever you give these too will enjoy! |

…What would the Christmas season be without some really good and even better inexpensive but delicious Bubbles?!
I liked this one so much I went out and bought two cases (6 packs) the very next day! Graham Beck Brut – Pinot Noir Chardonnay $19.95 – South Africa This one just calls for a party to break out! The grapes for this Cap Classique were whole bunch pressed to ensure the finest quality juices. A perfect aperitif style beverage, fresh citrusy fruits with a dry yet rich creamy complexity. Stock up while you can. |

Prosecco for Everyone? Of Course!
Tunuta S. Anna Prosecco Extra-Dry $17.75 – Venato – Italy A Canadian turkey treat (Canadian Thanksgiving was the occasion). Medium bodied, crisp and fruity. Fine textured bubbles with aromas of citrus, apple and pear. |

One and done!Simi Chardonnay 2015 $19.95 – California USA Until now I had never met a Simi that I did not like! As a big fan of the reds I must say that I was a little disappointed in the sweetness of this Chardonnay. Very light and fruity and they suggest caramel, apple and pineapple – just maybe – could have left the caramel and pineapple out! |

LAN Crianza Tempranillo $16.95 – Spain
Need to put this one in the “Best Bargains” category. Always in my home and always pleasing! Spending a year or more in oak before mellowing at least 12 more months in bottle prior to release, this Spanish beauty made from 100% Tempranillo is dry, medium to full body and delivers spicy red berry fruit. |

Torres Coronas Tempranillo, Catalunya $14.45 – Spain
Another Spanish bargain. The Torres Family has been making great wines for over a century. Full bodied and ruby red in color this Tempranillo has a long finish bringing out flavors of ripe berry fruit with plum and vanilla. |
