I hope that all of you took note about my predictions of Tiger going up in smoke at the Masters…as did the marijuana stocks on the TSE shortly thereafter…stocks can’t rise just because smoke does…maybe someday!
Air Canada REALLY!?! I started my trip to the Philippines on snowy, icy April 15th and my flight was on schedule until 20 minutes before boarding. Four hours later I had missed my connection to Incheon, Korea. Even before we left Toronto I had been on the phone to Asiana Airlines to advise and reroute, but the situation was not theirs to address as I was on points with Aeroplan for this journey. Asiana advised to call Air Canada.
I call AC – Get this – the recording comes on telling you that the call volumes are so high that you cannot even be put on hold – then cut off!!! Really Air Canada, no responsibility to your customers? Maybe a glimmer of hope that I will not be lost at sea…and what about my bags, my clubs…sad, sad…Air Canada.
Aeroplan to the rescue. At least they answered and knew enough to tell me that Air Canada had already rerouted me and that I needed to claim my bags. Reroute was with decent times and would get me to the church on time – so to speak. Reroute was also with another carrier in the mix,United Airlines who before this flight was not one of my favorite airlines, has now vaulted up almost as quickly as Tiger’s rankings. For whatever reason AC was not able to get me on to UA’s Business Class but the excellent staff at United SFO made that happen. I was then in for one of the most superb Business Class meals I have ever had – Kobe beef to perfection and a nice selection of bubbles and red wine.
Being stuck in San Francisco Airport for the night is not the most pleasant thing so after being checked in it is the the United Lounge I go for a little breakfast of champions including two of my favorite things…smoked salmon and bubbles. With time to kill I came across the XpresSpa and I have to tell you that Ripear has a feel for just where in your back his elbows need to be!
IAGTO Asia Golf Tourism Convention (AGTC) has just wrapped up. Over 600 delegated from 33 countries conducted over 5,000 meetings over two days at the Marriott Manila. Yes! We did have one company promoting golf in Canada. Kudos to Ross Marrington – BC Golf Guide to have the foresight to target the members of Country Clubs from all over Austral Asia to come to Canada. Where is Destination Canada????
Marriott Manila rocks situated in Resorts World a couple of miles from the airport but crazy traffic makes it a 30 minute adventure. The complex is complete with shopping and a casino with an adventurous night life. But then adventurous nightlife is everywhere in the Philippines. I saw it written somewhere that you only live once.
