Do you really know how far you are hitting it???
I have never really been a techy guy, although these days it is almost impossible not to be!
I have to admit that when first introduced to Shot Scope, it did intrigue me. I met the good folks from Scot Scope at the Tour Edge Media Event at Lake Nona and was excited to take home a Shot Scope V2. I am going to take a shot at being a techy golf guy! Tour Edge had just come out with the new “No Spin” CBX Woods and Rescues and although perfectly happy with my Exotics E8 I was certainly interested in gaining some extra yards. Aren’t we all?
I patiently waited for the season to get started here, got my Shot Scope V2 ready to roll and began to learn so much more about my game and just how far I really hit the ball, learned about my accuracy, my putting and so much more.
Play away I did with my E8’s for the first half of the season and with the built in Smart GPS tied into the tracking component – “ClubSence” technology. Easy enough, you simply insert a small coin size plastic cover to the butt of your club. Shot Scope accounts for each shot you take, every move you make around the course. It is also able to differentiate between practice swings and actual shots. When you download your round you are provided with pretty much a step by step of your journey around the course as well as yardages of each club hit and number of putts. You will see your game like never before!
Additionally, Shot Scope keeps track of all of your rounds and can provide you with averages based on round plays. Of course, it does not take into consideration uphill and downhill shots or winds – but I am sure that someday there will be an App for that!! LOL!
Some of the things that stood out for me was the fact that I was hitting 72% of fairways and how many greens I was missing. Luckily I had a pretty good short game since I was averaging well under two putts per green. If only I could hit it close! As a game improvement tool I know what I need to work on!
I won’t bore you with the details but when my new Tour Edge CBX woods and rescues did arrive I could see from Shot Scope’s ClubSense technology that the new clubs were 7% to 10% longer than my E8’s. Good work Tour Edge!
