It’s that time of year when we start to think about Christmas gifts for golfers.
There are so many options in things like equipment, clothing and sunglasses – here a few of the favourites I’ve looked at in the past month or two.
For clothing, think Galvin Green (https://www.galvingreen.com/) – where they say, fashion meets function.

Galvin Green – Edge E Triangle Iron Jacket
I love, absolutely love, their Edge collection. I got a look at the Edge E Triangle Iron jacket and it’s now in my son’s closet (when it’s not on his back) and I don’t think he plans to give it back – he likes it that much.
Galvin Green claims challenging convention is in the company’s DNA. With the new Edge concept, designers and product developers can pursue their ideas without regard to context or continuity. There is only one guiding principle – golf first. Edge is a daring framework designed to push the limits in technical golf wear. Fresh, contemporary design blends with comfort of the highest level to provide a striking collection where fashion meets performance. If you want to gift somebody that Edge they’re looking for, well, here you go.
Let’s shift to sunglasses. In a crowded market, Tifosi Optics has been doing great things since 2003 when the company set out to create an eyewear brand that stood for quality, style, function and value.

Tifosi
Tifosi’s golf sunglasses feature lens tints made to up your game. There’s the GT lens that boosts contrast so you can better track your ball in flight, the EC lens that excels as a terrain reader, and the Brown Fototec lens that is a pleasing tone that transitions from a light tint to a dark tint as the day becomes brighter. Interchangeable models come with both the GT and EC lenses along with a smoke lens great for full-sun conditions. Tifosi (https://www.tifosioptics.com/) has become a trusted brand in cycling, running and golf – really, anything outdoors.
The Enliven Colour Enhancing Lens is the newest offering. Talking about its product, Tifosi, in a press release, said: “Think of sunglasses as your music player. Sunglasses have one control feature, they turn down the volume of brightness of your environment. Just as an added bass and treble control to your music player adds more depth, Enliven lens technology adds bold contrasts and fine details to enhance the visual experience and improve your game. Enliven Color Capture technology adjusts the wavelengths of light that matter most; making greens, blues, and reds pop with definition. Enhanced contrast reveals changes in textures of the greens and maximizes colour separation to enhance depth perception. The added contrast makes it easier to track a ball in flight and distinguish it on the fairway. Enliven lens technology is available in a wide range of already popular Tifosi frame styles including Seek FC, Veloce and the new Alliant.”

Cobra King F9 Speekback driver
OK, let’s move over to equipment – golf clubs. Cobra’s new King F9 Speedback driver is getting plenty of buzz. That’s what happens when a guy who plays the club – Bryson DeChambeau – wins a PGA Tour event using it. The rising PGA star won the Shriners Hospitals for Children Open in Las Vegas in early November. His full bag of Cobra clubs includes the Speedback driver, the King One irons, fairway woods and wedges. He was also dressed head-to-toe in Puma Golf clothing, wearing the PWRADAPT Leather golf shoes.
The King F9 driver includes Cobra’s Speedback technology, which combines a highly aerodynamic clubhead shape with low CG. The combination of an efficient aerodynamic shape and an engineered weight structure on the sole, improves club speed while maintaining a low, deep CG to create the most efficient transfer of energy to the ball. Utilizing a CNC Precision Milled Face, created using industry-leading face manufacturing technology, allows for a thinner and hotter face design that has shown ball speed increases up to 1.5 mph when tested against a traditional, hand-polished face.
The result from Cobra (https://www.cobragolf.ca/) is a thinner and hotter face design that has shown ball speed increases up to 1.5 mph when tested against a traditional, hand-polished face. These technologies fuse to deliver the ultimate formula for speed and extreme distance.
