A bronze medallist (behind two of Creekside’s own higher-end wines) in the Best Syrah category of the 2018 Ontario Wine Awards, this is Creekside and winemaker Rob Power’s flagship grape. The warm 2016 vintage features the usual eye-opening aromas of violets, currants and white pepper in this medium-bodied, 13% abv red, with more of a red berry blend on the palate. Its 18 months of barrel aging has served it well. Pair it with sausages and hamburgers. —TM
