…and it is the end of the month to boot. Moving away from the real cheapies for this month although we will get back to some of those occasionally. After all who doesn’t like cheapy wines now and then. Summer is coming and some guzzling on a deck here or there is bound to happen.
It was also birthday month, so there were a couple of special bottles for one special dinner along with the beef. Yes, one was Amarone and the other you will have to check out for yourself. From one of my all-time favorite vineyards in California.
Some interesting whites made the favorites list. One very overpriced but the other 2, were great value.
Rodney Strong Alexander Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2018: $34.95 California, USA What you can Expect: One of my birthday dinner wines. You know we are having beef and it is a perfect fir. Big, bold and a beautiful aroma when it opens up, smooth as silk going down. |

Rich and plush, with luscious chocolate, licorice, prune, nutty and floral flavors. Demands a hearty meal like barbecued back ribs, rack of lamb or steak. |
